Website Design for Cleaning Companies
Built by an operator who runs two cleaning businesses in Atlanta. Every problem on this page is one we have had ourselves, on our own phone line, with our own money.
We Run Two Cleaning Companies
Most web designers who say they work with cleaning companies have built one cleaning website. We operate a residential house cleaning business and a carpet and upholstery cleaning business, both in Cobb County, both competing for the same customers you are.
That means we are not going to ask you to explain what a recurring client is worth, why a one-time deep clean is priced differently, or why a Saturday move-out job is worth answering the phone for.
You Are Not Competing With Other Cleaners
The instinct is to look at the cleaning company down the road. That is not who is taking your work.
You are competing with lead-generation apps — Thumbtack, Angi, Care and the rest — which occupy the top of the search results, sell the same job to four different cleaners, and take a cut whether or not the customer stays. Every one of those leads costs you again next month.
You are also competing with national franchises whose advertising budget you cannot match and should not try to.
What actually works instead
Neither of those competitors bothers with the specific, unglamorous searches that convert best: the exact service in the exact suburb, the question a nervous first-time customer types before booking, the problem that only comes up in certain houses. Those searches are winnable, they are free once you rank, and they are what a properly built cleaning site is for.
The Six Things That Actually Move Bookings
A quote path that takes under a minute
Cleaning is a considered purchase made impulsively. If getting a price takes a phone call during business hours, you lose the person deciding at 9pm on a Sunday.
Service area pages that are genuinely different
One page per city you actually work in, each arguing something specific to that city. Not one page with the name swapped eleven times.
Recurring language, not just one-time language
Weekly, biweekly and monthly customers are the entire economics of a cleaning business. The site should sell the relationship, not just the first clean.
Trust signals that a competitor cannot copy
Background checks, insurance, how many people enter the home, who they are. Specific claims beat adjectives every single time.
Honest pricing information
You do not have to publish a price list. You do have to stop making people guess whether you are in their budget, because most of them will just leave.
A countable lead
A thank-you page on every form, so you know which pages produce work and which ones only produce traffic.
The Dry Time Nobody Else Will Tell You
Nearly every carpet cleaning site in the country claims carpet dries in four to eight hours. It gets repeated so often that it reads like a fact.
For a heavily soiled carpet it is not true. The honest range is eight to eighteen hours depending on how dirty the carpet actually was, and a customer who was told four hours is going to be annoyed the next morning.
So on our own carpet cleaning site, we published eight to eighteen. It reads like a weaker selling point and it performs like a stronger one, because the customer who books after reading it is not surprised, does not complain, and does come back.
This is what industry knowledge actually buys you. A designer who has never run a cleaning business would have copied the four-to-eight number off a competitor without knowing it was wrong.
What the First Thirty Days Look Like
Audit before anything else
Your site, your Google Business Profile, and who is actually beating you in the map pack for your services in your cities. You get the findings whether or not you hire us.
Fix the profile first
For most cleaning businesses the map pack produces more calls than the website will. It is also the cheapest thing on the list to fix, so it goes first.
Build the pages that convert
One page per service, one page per city that matters, a quote path that works on a phone, and a thank-you page so every lead is countable.
Then chase the slow rankings
Content and local SEO compound, but they do not rescue a bad month. We set expectations honestly about which is which.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, but it is the industry we know best because we run two cleaning businesses ourselves. If you clean homes, carpets, upholstery or offices, we have already solved most of the problems you are about to describe to us.
Most builds land between $5,500 and $10,000 depending on how many services and service areas you need covered. You get a flat, itemized quote before anything starts.
Yes, and we build it into the site rather than adding a plugin. For carpet and upholstery work we can include photo upload, which lets you quote accurately without driving out to look.
Google Business Profile work can move within weeks. Organic pages generally take a few months to settle. Anyone who promises page one in thirty days is either lucky or lying.
Only for the ones you genuinely work in and want more of. And each page has to argue something specific to that city, because eleven copies of the same page with the city name swapped is a pattern Google has devalued for years.
